Introduction
Eupachygaster is a small genus of soldier flies with a bizarre distribution. E. alexanderi is native to Argentina, E. flava is from Papua New Guinea, E. lasiops has been collected in Cameroon, and E. tarsalis is found in Europe and the Middle East (Woodley 2001), and E. subtarsalis is from Russia (Krivosheina 2004). James (1977) only tentatively placed E. flava in this genus.
Characteristics
The Palaearctic species of Eupachygaster are distinguished from other Palaearctic Pachygastrinae by the large spineless scutellum with a flat marginal rim and the presence of R4 (Rozkošný 1998).
