Introduction

Some species of Artemita have strikingly colored setae in ornate arrangements. Artemita is a primarily Neotropical genus, with one species, A. insularis, found on the Bonin Islands near Australia and another species, A. nana, reaching as far north as Texas (U.S.A.) (Woodley 2001).

Characteristics

Artemita can be distinguished from other genera of Nearctic Pachygastrinae by the presence of four scutellar spines and the truncated cone-like projecting antennal insertions (James 1981).
