Characteristics
As in Pipunculus, Cephalops, Cephalosphaera, and Collinas, Microcephalops has a fan of setae on the propleuron. Microcephalops share the following characters only with Collinias: a swollen frons, narrow face and narrow discal medial cell (not expanded medially). Unlike Collinias, they have a single cross vein on the third costal section of the wing.
