Introduction

Dieuryneura stigma is found in the Southwestern United States and Sonora and Sinoloa in Northwestern Mexico. Its larvae live in decaying sotol plants (Woodley 2001).

Characteristics

Dieuryneura can be distinguished from other Nearctic Stratiomyidae by black body color, the presence of vein M₃, the presence of calli on the face, and the short, hook-like, upward curved scutellar spines (James 1981).
