Introduction
Clitellaria is most diverse in East Asia, particularly China, with two species, C. ephippium and C. pontica, native to Europe. The larvae of Clitellaria ephippium occur in nests of Lasius fuliginosus ants (Woodley 2001).
Characteristics
Clitellaria is distinguished from other Palaearctic Clitellarinae by the almost bare apical antennal flagellomeres, and the presence of spines laterally on the thorax near the wing bases (Rozkošný 1998).
