Cephalops (Parabeckerias)
Jeff Skevington- Cephalops obtusinervis
- Cephalops taiwanensis
Introduction
Only two valid species of Cephalops (Parabeckerias) are known. Cephalops (Parabeckerias) obtusinervis occurs in the Palaearctic region and Cephalops (Parabeckerias) taiwanensis is Oriental in distribution.
Characteristics
The subgenus Parabeckerias De Meyer, 1994 includes all those species of Cephalops Fallén, 1817 characterized by the presence of a ventral subapical lobe on both surstyli in males (De Meyer 1994). Additionally, males and females differ from representatives of other subgenera of Cephalops by having all femora being distinctly shiny posteroventrally instead of only on the hindlegs.
