Instructions for AzTea Attendees (and Thanks!)
1) To view podcasts: please refer to the podcasts page for tips and instructions:
http://podcasts.tolweb.org
2) To give feedback, students and teachers have 3 options (all of these options are accessible from the Feedback section of the ToL podcasts page: go to http://podcasts.tolweb.org then click Give Feedback/Contribute at the top):
- Give feedback using our Podcasting Biodiversity blog (improved ToL blog coming soon!) Have students add comments to the blog posting that asks for feedback about podcast episodes and the posting that asks for feedback about what they could contribute and what else they would like to see. In order to add comments, students must click on the link that says "comments"which is at the bottom and bit to the right of each post. After a student finishes writing in their comments, they should click the button that says "Anonymous" in the identity section and then click "publish comment". There are also instructions written on the blog itself.
- Take the podcast survey (link will open in a new window). The survey is self explanatory.
- Use our call in line (520-626-3903) to leave a voicemail comment on podcasts! We may include comments in a future podcast because we can turn your voicemail into an audio file. If you choose to use the call-in line to leave feedback, please put students into groups because we have a limit of twelve messages in our mailbox, and messages must be 3 minutes or less (but you can call back!). It would help me if you could send me an email indicating when you might have students use the call in-line.
3) Questions for students/teachers to answer via the survey, blog or call in line:
- Teacher's name and grade level (MUST HAVE)
- Name of podcasts(s) viewed (see list below)
- What did you like?
- What did you learn?
- What suggestions do you have?
- What else would you like to see in this podcast?
- What other podcasts would you like to see us produce (on what topics?)
- What would you like to contribute to the podcast series? What do you think you could contribute in terms of images, audio or video?
- If you are a teacher please tell us how you used this in your classroom and if you thought it was effective. What other resources for using the podcasts would you like to see? What would help you contribute to the series?
4) Logistics and Suggestions
If you want to have each student give feedback individually that would be great. But you can also break students into groups to view the podcasts, have them discuss what they viewed and then choose one of the feedback methods. They can give feedback as a group as well in the blog or survey. If you choose to use the call-in line to leave feedback, please put students into groups because we have a limit of twelve messages in our mailbox, and messages must be 3 minutes or less (but you can call back!). Finally, you can have your whole class use one feedback format, or you can try several, it's up to you!
