Introduction
An entirely Old World genus of elongate salticids with thickened first legs. The tubercles beneath the small eyes and on the first femur are distinctive, and many species also show long curling setae on the first legs.Several New World species have been placed here; P. monticola is a dendryphantine and was moved to Phanias by Maddison (1995), and P. piraticus is put back in Paramarpissa. Two New World species remain, P. siticulosus and P. oblongus. The former is actually a dendryphantine.
