This species occurs along the Atlantic coast of Brazil, in Uruguay and northern Argentina.Characteristics
P. wernickei may be distinguished from the only other sympatric Philaethria, P. dido, by its dark brown inner and white medial postdiscal bands on the ventral hindwing. Also, the submarginal spots on the VHW are diffuse, while they are well-defined in P. dido.References
