A widely-distributed Andean species (1400-1800 m.), ranging from Costa Rica to Bolivia. Lamas (2004) includes Oxeoschistus simplex as a subspecies, but Viloria et al (2010) suggest that this may be a distinct species.Other Names for Oxeoschistus puerta described in Pronophila
