Introduction

This genus appears to be restricted to the Magdalena and Maracaibo basins.

Characteristics

Diagnosis

A genus of small, armored banjo catfishes (up to 27 mm SL) distinguished from all other aspredinids by the following character: only one set of paired pre-anal-fin plates. Other characters not unique to this taxon but useful for identification include; bony ornamentation of skull better developed than in any other members of the Hoplomyzontini.
