Introduction

Actinomyia novaeteutoniae is from Brazil, and the other two species in the genus are native to Chile (Woodley 2001). Actinomyia is rarely collected. Males are unknown for A. eupodata (Woodley 1995).

Characteristics

Actinomyia is a well defined genus morphologically. It can be diagnosed by the sharp ventral carina on the metathoracic tibia and longitudinal stripes or vittae formed from appressed pilosity on the thorax. The phallic complex of A. longicornis is unique in Beridinae (Woodley 1995).
